Project Description:

Our goal is to interview local business, and highlight the accomplishments, challenges, and valuable advice of business owners and professionals. Our project includes video and content to reach out to local businesses with networking related content. In this way, we support our local business community and reach a broader audience.

Students will work on the Networking Vancouver website and The Business Spotlight feature with a focus exclusively on local businesses and professionals. Content, calendar and videos are the outreach tools you may be involved with. Guests answer 5 questions about their business journey on video. Students may help Juuga team members to edit and produce the short interview videos and post them on the website and share to social media channels, and in our newsletter.

Student tasks may cover:

  • Content:  Research to find content to post on the website which may include news in the networking world, the local events calendar, articles, tips etc. guided by a Juuga team member.
  • Newsletter:  Create a monthly newsletter to distribute to local business community via email.
  • Video:  Edit & publish 2-4 short videos per month.
  • Posting on social media (FB, LI,IG)

Students will not be asked to find, prepare or interview our guests. A Juuga team member invites the guests and arranges the recording times.

  • Marketing:  Student input is valued as we interact with social media and other modes of marketing.

More than one student volunteer may be accepted.

What do we want to see in a volunteer?

  • The ability to learn and the openness to do so
  • Curiosity and interest in getting to know more about local business people
  • Interest in networking and expanding their knowledge and contacts.

Ideally, students will learn to manage the recorded Spotlight video.  Therefore, understanding the basic video editing process is helpful as well as publishing on social media.

Time commitment: Students are asked to attend in person at the office on Seymour and Georgia –  2x a month for approximately 2 hours + 1-2 hours independent work.

 What do students get?

  • Students will be included where possible, to observe and to debrief after if guests record with us.
  • Invited to attend networking or event opportunities if the student is comfortable meeting new people and mingling in a business networking environment.
